Kangas, Toivenen, Lane Hi - we have been stumped for several years on our Kangas genealogy because we can't get beyond our grandfather - Nels Jacob Kangas. He was a bit of a rogue - traveled around as a salesman, magician, changed his name, http: Left our grandmother with two little boys and dissapeared.
We did find that he died in Camden, NJ in - but no one there has any information on him except that he had an uncanny resemblance in appearance and voice to Paul Kangas of the Nightly Business Report. Oddly enough - so did our father - his son.
We think he was born near the Houghton Michigan area because thats where he met up with our grandmother, Linda Dagmar Toivenen aka T Maki Allen - however the relatives of Paul Kangas say there was no relative named Nels Jacob Kangas in their records.
I'm wondering what the original Kangas name for the Paul Kangas family - because I believe their may be a distant connection and I may be able to find a link via Finland. Also - I am unable to order a death certificate for Jack Lane unless I know who his parents are - would anyone know where I could get an obituary?
Thank you, connie cmkangas twcny. The Humble Genius of PBS's Nightly Business Report.
